The Institute for Politics is headed not only by professionals but also by a great group of people. Together we are the most active Czech political think-tank that cultivates the political environment and offers solutions to current social problems.

During the fall of 2017, I interned at the “Institute for Politics and Society” while studying with CIEE at Charles University. As an undergraduate, studying communication and political science in the United States, working in a think tank in the Czech Republic has proven to be very educational and valuable to my experience in Prague as a whole. Working for the Institute helped me immerse myself, and learn more about the politics, society, and economics in the Czech Republic and Europe. With the hands on experience of writing and translating, I was able to learn more about the challenges the EU and the Czech Republic face today as well as some possible solutions for these problems. I realized the importance of discussion as the only way to fix a problem is to brainstorm a solution, and the Institute showed me this. I also learned a lot about how to plan conferences as well as the administrative work that goes into putting on such events.
The office was a welcoming place where I was able to make lasting friendships with fellow interns from around the world. I was able to work alongside of my Czech, British and Slovakian colleagues, and I learned a lot from each of them. I was able to visit the Czech Parliament and meet members of the EU parliament as well. As a former intern for a US Congressman, I really enjoyed seeing the heart of the Czech government, and learn more about the history of politics in the Czech Republic.
Moving forward, the experiences and skills learned during my time working at the Institute will help me in jobs and work in the future as the experience as a whole was extremely informative and unforgettable!
