Who We Are

Miroslav Bárta is an Egyptologist and archeologist working at the Czech Egyptology Institute at the Faculty of Philosophy within Charles University in Prague since 1993. Since he was granted the rank of professor at Charles University in 2009, Bárta has lectured Egyptology and engaged in several long-term activities at the Freie Universtität in Berlin, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and the American University in Cairo.

Bárta is currently directing the Czech Egyptology Institute’s archeological and environmental projects in Egypt and Sudan. Among his main interests are Egyptian archeology of the Age of the Pyramids, comparative civilization development and the relation of the human species and the environment. Bárta founded the think-tank Complex Society, and is a member of the board of the Neuron Fund of Support of Science and the Institute for Politics and Society.
