The Institute for Politics and Society in cooperation with American Center cordially invites you to the discussion “Congress vs. Trump: Will the foreign policy of the United States change after the election?”

Since 1958 only two presidents have seen their political parties “win” the midterms: Democrat Bill Clinton in 1998 and Republican George W. Bush in 2002. Did Donald Trump even stand a chance? Was his campaign strategy successful? How did Trump’s pre-election rhetoric reflect his support of the Republican Party? How will the relationship between the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives and the Republican-controlled Senate develop?

In Europe and the Czech Republic, we are mainly interested in potential changes in U.S. foreign and security policies. Will Congress be paralysed? What will the relationship between

Congress and the President be like? What will all of this mean for NATO, the EU, and the Czech Republic? Will President Trump change his rhetoric?
