The Institute for Politics and Society hosts an afternoon discussion at the Israeli Embassy on Monday, March 11, 2019. The Israeli Ambassador, Daniel E. Meron, will introduce the discussion.

The Czech Republic has long been regarded as one of the most important European partners of the State of Israel. There are many evidences that show that the Czech Republic and Israel have good relations. These two countries have intense cooperation in the economic and cultural spheres, in tourism, in science and research. In the turbulent region of the Middle East, there is not a more significant partner for the Czech Republic than Israel.

The current government of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš continues to develop and to deepen these relations. His recent visit to Israel has confirmed this diplomatic and economic alliance and offered space for debate over the challenges both countries are facing together.

The discussion will focus on the following topics:

  • How can we assess Prime Minister Babis’ visit to Israel from the point of view of both countries?
  • What changes can we anticipate in the strategic relationship of both countries?
  • Which current developed legislation could push the partnership between the Czech Republic and Israel to the next level?
  • Will the Czech embassy transfer from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in accordance with the recent US move? What are the pros and cons?
  • What are the current issues that Israel is engaged in solving?

The meeting will be held in English without the provision of interpreting services.

This event is per invitation only.
