The Institute for Politics and Society invites you to a public debate on The UK´s EU Reform Agenda.

The discussion will focus on British Prime Minister David Cameron´s EU reform demands as set out in his letter to European Council President Donald Tusk. The UK is seeking to:

  • Ensure that measures taken by the Eurozone respect the integrity of the Single Market and the legitimate interests of non-Euro members
  • Boost EU competitiveness to help generate growth and jobs
  • Enhance the role of national parliaments and end Britain’s obligation to work towards an “ever closer union”
  • Tackle abuses of the right to free movement and reduce the flow of people coming to the UK from within the EU by reducing the draw of its welfare system

What stage are the negotiations at? How have other MS responded to the UK’s proposals? Will The UK remain in EU?

Speakers will include:

H. E. Jan Thompson, British Ambassador to the Czech Republic

Tomáš Prouza, State Secretary for European Affairs, Government of the Czech Republic

Jan Macháček, Chairman of the board of the Institute for the Politics and Society

The debate will be moderated by Dr. Anna Matušková. The debate is scheduled for 9th February from 6:30pm and will be held in Schebek Palace, Politických vězňů 936/7, 110 00 Prague 1.
