As a student of international relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University of Prague, I considered doing an internship within Institute for Politics and Society. Institute for Politics and Society as a liberally oriented think-tank, which creates platform for opened and progressive debate, which is greatly appreciated. During my internship I was able to attend several debates and conferences on various topics, including the Multiple Challenges for Europe 2018, Business Breakfast Digital Czech Republic, Discussion dealing with possibility of Direct Democracy in Czech Republic hosted in the Chamber of Deputies.
Furthermore, I gained valuable knowledge in the field of politics, international relations, economics and learned priceless skills such as applying for grants and writing outcomes from conferences. I wrote 2 policy papers, “US embassy move to Jerusalem and its impact on international relations” and “China-US Trade war”. Both of the papers were supervised by skilled analyst Tereza Chmelíková, who was always giving me constructive critics during my elaboration on policy papers.Above all, I had opportunity to attend a week long conference in Easter Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk area, and had an opportunity to speak in Russian language at the conference, on the topics of hate and extremism in Slovakia. For this opportunity I am grateful to Roman Máca, who is an outstanding expert on russia-ukrainian relations and Russian propaganda.

The biggest delight of my internship was to work with the Executive Director of the Institute Šárka Prát, who is a very inspirational woman, and besides patiently introducing me into the production of events and application for grants, she also gave me great career advices, which I highly appreciate.

Overall, all members of the institute create a very friendly and professional environment, they are glad to help or advise on some problem. Working for the Institute for politics and society was entertaining and professionally benefitial. I highly recommend the Institute to everyone who considers working for the think tank with easy-going and professional members.
