How would I describe the internship at the Institute for Politics and Society?
Well, I applied for a three-month internship… and suddenly found myself staying for almost a year!
The internship gave me not only valuable and unique experiences—both professionally and personally—but also introduced me to a group of amazing and friendly people, many of whom I now consider friends and will never forget. That includes the IPPS team as well as the many other interns I had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with.
If you take the initiative and really get involved, IPPS offers fantastic opportunities. In my case, I co-organized and moderated international conferences and debates, flew to Warsaw and Brussels, wrote and edited various articles and reports, enjoyed loads (and I mean loads) of great food at events, chased down speakers before panel discussions, and even transformed into a forest fairy in the AI photo booth at the Digital Czech Republic conference.
I'm incredibly grateful to everyone at IPPS who guided me through the internship and helped me create memories for a lifetime! From the Director to the project managers Kika, Luky, and Martin, and the former office manager Frederika—who has now been succeeded by the always-smiling Zdeňka—these are the people who give the internship its heart and soul. Thanks to them, you’ll be walking into the office with a smile, even on days when you’re expected to call the European Commission and chase down Commissioners (read: a character-building experience).
So if you’re considering an internship at IPPS and still haven’t decided—go for it. I promise you, it’s going to be one big joyride!
