Potential for greater involvement of foreign students in higher education in the Czech Republic
Increasing the number of foreign students at Czech universities, especially from developed countries such as the USA and the UK, presents a strategic opportunity to strengthen the financing of universities, increase their internationalism, and at the same time partially solve the problem of the long-term shortage of qualified workforce in the Czech Republic. Moreover, from the perspective of international comparison, student life in the Czech Republic is financially less demanding.
Key takeaways:
- A primary reason for the lack of interest in higher education abroad is financial burden.
- Tuition fees at Czech universities and the cost of student life in the Czech Republic create a comparative advantage for Czech schools.
- Expanding the number of foreign students can not only increase the budgets of universities but also increase their internationalization and help to solve the problem of the shortage of qualified labor.
