I consider my four months long internship as very pleasant and beneficial. As a student of international relations, diplomacy and economics I have really enjoyed putting my theoretical knowledge into the practice and it was interesting to find out more about how think-tanks work on an everyday basis.
I am glad that I could have met new people – all other interns from all around the world and the permanent staff as well.
I worked on many tasks, some of them more interesting than the others, however, I am aware that it belongs to that. I helped with the organization of events such as panel discussions, business breakfasts or two days long conference the Digital Czech Republic which took part in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Business breakfast was my favourite type of event because they were connected mostly to the Czech Republic and its course in politics and business. Thanks to this I have realized that I am far concerned about foreign policy than the Czech one.
I also wrote reports of the events held by Institute and also one policy paper related to the behavioural economics – theme I had known nothing about until now. Writing these papers has been a good experience. As part of my job, I also did monitoring of other institutions‘ events and I was also helping with the administration and sometimes the translation of texts.
I would recommend trying this internship to everyone who is interested in Czech and foreign policy. Thanks to the flexible working hours and possible work from home you can effectively do your tasks and also your school duties, which I found very convenient. Overall, I am more than satisfied with this experience and I will miss a friendly atmosphere at the office.
