On September 30th, 2019 I completed an internship at the Institute for Politics and Society. During three months I participated in the preparation and organization of various events. Most often it was a business breakfast, in which I was responsible for sending invitations and processing guest lists. At the time of the events my work consisted of registering incoming participants, taking minutes and then processing them into reports. In addition to the business breakfast, I also took part in public debates on interesting topics, which, like in the case of a business breakfast, I wrote outcomes from too.
During the internship, I had an opportunity to write a post on blog, an annotation for upcoming event or prepare the necessary materials. I also helped to translate texts, annotations and reports from Czech to English and vice versa. Regarding to the business meetings which took place at the Institute, I arranged the conference room or refreshment for guests.
I consider the international conference Challenges for Europe to be the highlight of the internship. I was responsible for processing registrations, communicating with those interested in the conference and their subsequent addition in the guest list. During the conference I was in charge of registration of participants and other smaller tasks related to the smooth running of the whole event, as well as drawing up an output from one of the panels in Czech and English too.
I find the internship at the Institute as a good decision I made and that time I spent there was a valuable contribution to acquire new experience or knowledge, as well as personal and professional development. I have improved my organizational skills, communication skills and by using English and Czech I have improved the level of language as well. It also boosted my creativity and writing skills and I gained greater self-confidence, whether in decision-making or in communicating with people. Moreover, due to this internship I learned more about my strengths and weaknesses. It motivated me to continually improve and it created a good platform for my future employment.
I recommend the internship at the Institute for Politics and Society to all who are interested in development of the events on the national and international political scene and who are looking for the possibility to self-realize. It is a great opportunity to expand knowledge and experience that can be used in future employment. It is a job that provides the opportunity to meet many interesting people, make new contacts, broaden horizons and learn useful information in the professional field.
