Although I had prior work experience, I decided to do another internship in the hopes of furthering my knowledge of politics and economics. After actively searching for an internship that would fulfill both goals, I came upon an advertisement for interns from the Institute of Politics and Society. It was highly suggested that I do not pursue an internship in my final term as a Masters student due to time constraints, I could not turn down the offer of doing an internship at the Institute of Politics and Society. It combined my desire to learn more about politics and economics. After passing my interview, I started my four-month internship at the Institute.

During my tenure at the Institute, I produced numerous policy papers and helped organise debates, forums and conferences, where I wrote reports on them. I had a chance to go to numerous private events, where I was able to meet those that I would normally have access to. Moreover, I was able to make friends with other interns.

This internship was invaluable for me because it allowed me access in which I normally would not have. I have a chance to help shape public discourse within the Czech Republic and have the papers that I produce read by those in power. I managed to participate in debates on topics that interest me, even if I did not agree with their experts’ opinions. It is an incredible internship and it is what you can make of it. I was able to run various statistical analysis and engage in various modelling. Would I recommend this internship? Yes, I would recommend this internship. The people at the internship are quite lovely and very accommodating to my inflexible schedule. Since this was my final semester, I had to write a 25,000-word dissertation, apply for numerous jobs and attend phone interviews, and on top of all that, constantly sick due to allergies. My supervisor, Sarka Prat, was incredibly accommodating to my schedule. I was able to work from home. So yes, I would highly recommend this internship. Internships are what you make of it. If you choose to stretch yourself to the furthest limits, like I have with this internship, you’ll be able to learn loads.
