As a student of the first year of Political Science, I did not have a clear idea of exactly what the concept of post-graduate politics means. Most people around me said that “not much”. So I decided to find out it one day. It is not a characteristic of me to be in one place long time, not even a school bench, and the offered internship at the Institute for Politics and Society through Erasmus + seemed to me as a good opportunity, at least in part, to solve my dilemma.
Before starting an internship, I had some concerns about my skills, because most of the other trainees who were with me were after graduation or were preparing to defend the bachelor thesis. And because I was not quite clear what work to do and what my purpose would be. But on the first day, my fears were gone. There is a very friendly atmosphere at the institute, they explained everything to me, and everyone was always willing to help me when I needed to advise.
At the institute, I learned a lot of new things. I have improved in communication, even in English language, for example text translation, and organizational skills. I learned how to work with different databases or with the web. I could participate in the preparation of various actions and see how much work is needed for their organization. And last but not least, I was able to participate in the events which we were preparing. What was a huge plus for me because the themes were really varied and I could meet people from the field.
I recommend internship at the institute who wants to learn something new and get to know a lot of new people. And indeed, who wants to explore the beautiful European metropolis of Prague. Because it really worth it.
