As part of the requirements for my master’s degree program I had to complete an internship in my final semester. I was lucky enough to be able to do this at the Institute for Politics and Society for 3 months in early 2020. I was able to participate in a wide variety of tasks and projects and learned a lot about a wide variety of subjects. This internship gave me unique insight into how a think-tank works and operates. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic stopping the in-person work, I was able to continue my internship with the Institute from a distance. During this time, the staff of the Institute were still readily available to assist and were in constant contact.

I wrote several policy briefs and reports on a wide variety of topics relating not just to the Czech Republic, but to North America and Europe as a whole. I was given a lot of freedom in writing these papers, and the constructive feedback was very appreciated and helpful. The work was flexible and enjoyable, the staff and other interns were friendly and helpful, and being able to live in and explore Prague is simply amazing. I would recommend anyone looking to gain experience and insight at a think-tank to strongly consider an internship at the Institute for Politics and Society.
