I joined the Institute for Politics and Society as an intern during my studies as a business/marketing student. I was interested in European politics and the effect that they had on businesses directly, and the Institute really engaged me with their work in this field.

Through this internship, I was able to study and learn about the direct relationship between the Institute’s work and businesses in Europe. I took part in a conference about the implementations of 5G networks around the world and how companies like AT&T were working with governments to improve access to technology for everyone worldwide. Being able to implement the information I was receiving at university into real world scenarios through the Institute was incredibly valuable and helped me to further understand the business world.

I learned that creative problems solving, and analysis are one of the most important skills that anyone can have in today’s job market, and I felt that I was able to improve these skills during my time at the Institute. The team at the think tank was incredibly supportive throughout my time there and willing to give me responsibility so I could prove myself. Throughout all the projects that I worked on involving event planning, research, report and policy paper writing, I always felt that I could ask questions and receive informative answers.

Because the internships had flexible hours that I could set myself, it was easy to balance along side my university studies. I was able to meet new people and build my skillset. I really enjoyed my time working on events and writing papers for the Institute and I hope to work with them again at some point in the future!
