Several factors are essential for a successful career in international relations and diplomacy. The perfect base consists of high-quality studies. However, it is essential to complement the theoretical part with a practical part in the form of internships and active participation in forums, conferences, and events. One of the disadvantages for students in this field is unpaid internships. Due to different backgrounds and financial situations, unpaid internships create a great gap between graduates. Thanks to the fact that the Institute for Politics and Society offers also a paid internship, it creates fair opportunities in society for all international relations students. Even though I have decided to undertake my internship through the Erasmus project, due to the institute’s awareness of these issues in society and my appreciation for such a progressive opportunity, I have chosen to apply to this institute.

The whole experience was really enjoyable and mostly enriching. The tasks were carried out in various forms, such as work with text, its creation, analysis and translation, creation of communication and publication outputs, preparation of official invitations for conferences, e-mail or telephone communication with high-ranking officials or representatives of the state, monitoring of domestic and foreign sources, administrative work in general, as well as work with webpage and advancement in skills of various software.

Thanks to all the skills mentioned above, I can say that the internship in this institute has exceeded my expectations and I will be able to continue working on my own on such projects with no major difficulties. In addition to the technical skills I have acquired, I would also like to praise the attitude of the people in the office, who were always friendly and supportive, which perfectly rounded off the very atmosphere of my pleasant experience of working in a think-tank. This is also my way of thanking them once again and recommending to others who are thinking of doing an internship at this institute that they should definitely not hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity, from which they will benefit for the rest of their lives.
